Five arrested across the area as police smash suspected puppy fraud operation and rescue dogs from cruelty.
Met Police officers working alongside the RSPCA have arrested five people following a major operation targeting suspected puppy fraud and animal cruelty offences across East Area BCU.
On Tuesday 5 May, officers carried out Operation Jasmine, an investigation into serious animal welfare concerns linked to the alleged fraudulent sale of puppies at several addresses.
During the coordinated operation, Met officers executed court warrants and arrested five individuals on suspicion of fraud and animal cruelty offences.
Police also seized five puppies, which have now been placed safely into the care of the RSPCA, along with approximately £13,000 in cash.
Officers say investigations remain ongoing as enquiries continue into the alleged puppy selling network.
Animal welfare campaigners have repeatedly warned residents to be cautious when buying puppies online, with illegal breeding and fraudulent sales continuing to cause suffering to animals and heartbreak for families.
