Quick thinking Labour Beam Park councillors remove dangerous concealed weapon from our streets.
Labour Councillors Trevor McKeever and Matt Stanton were out in their ward when they saw an object protruding from a planter that did not look right. On closer inspection, their concerns were confirmed. Concealed within the soil was a knife, deliberately hidden and positioned for easy access.
Once fully removed, the scale of the find became clear. The weapon had a blade measuring approximately 13.5 inches and featured an adapted handle, raising serious concerns about its intended use.
The knife has since been taken to Romford Police Station where it will be safely disposed of. The local Safer Neighbourhood Police Team has also been informed.
This discovery highlights ongoing concerns around weapons being hidden in public spaces and the very real dangers present on our streets. Thanks to the quick actions of the councillors, another potentially lethal weapon has now been removed.
The Knife found.
