Havering’s Chief Executive has blasted the water company after once again another failed deadline has gone by at Gallows Corner, with residents now saying this is an ‘utter farce’.

Andrew Blake Herbert has hit out at Essex and Suffolk Water for what he describes as a failure that is continuing to impact Havering residents and businesses on a daily basis.

He said: “As a council, we are extremely disappointed with yet another delay in the completion and opening of Gallows Corner.”

Considering the closure was only supposed to last a few months, it has now become what many residents are calling a farce, a situation that is causing ongoing frustration across the borough.

He added: “Considering the closure was only supposed to last a few months, it has now become a bit of a farce.”

Havering’s Chief Executive has also criticised the water company for grossly underestimating the time their works would take and rightly says Havering residents are the ones being impacted.

“It’s clear that Essex and Suffolk Water grossly underestimated the time their works would take, and failed to factor in adequate time for testing the new water pipes, and it’s Havering residents and businesses who continue to pay the price for their failure.”

Residents and businesses continue to face daily disruption, with traffic delays, congestion and ongoing uncertainty about when the works will finally be completed.

With yet another missed deadline, frustration has now reached the point where residents are taking action themselves. A petition has been started to hold people accountable for the continued delays and lack of progress.

Andrew Blake Herbert has made it clear that the situation must now be resolved as quickly as possible.

“It is imperative that Transport for London and Essex and Suffolk Water complete their works as quickly as possible and finally get Gallows Corner moving again.”

For many across Havering, the situation has gone far beyond frustration and is now firmly being described as a farce, with growing pressure on those responsible to finally deliver and bring an end to the disruption.
