A 65-year-old man from Rainham has been charged with a series of serious non-recent sexual offences involving children, following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Jeffrey Tucker, former Rainham councillor, has been charged with a number of non-recent sex offences involving children.

The charges follow a Met investigation.

Tucker, 65 (07.05.1960), of Rainham, was arrested on Thursday 9 April on suspicion of multiple sexual offences.

He was charged the same day with rape, attempted rape, five counts of indecent assault, and attempted indecent assault.

The offences are reported to have occurred between 1987 and 1994 and relate to girls who were aged 16 and under at the time.

Tucker appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday 10 April and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Wednesday 6 May.

Police have confirmed the charges relate to historic allegations involving children, with court proceedings now underway.
