Havering Police officers executed a drugs warrant yesterday morning in Romford Market. The drugs farm is believed to have been on a floor above a shop in the market place and the cannabis plants worth approximately £1 million

The warrant was executed at 07:44, by officers from the Safer Neighbourhood police team under s23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and discovered a large cannabis factory.

Two men were arrested at the location and have been charged with Cultivation of Cannabis.  They are appearing at North East Magistrates court on 27 November.

Inspector Matt Willison for Romford town centre told the Havering Daily:
“This was a substantial seizure of cannabis plants worth approximately £1 million.  Criminality in this scale puts the public at risk and was potentially dangerous to those visiting the town centre or living in close proximity.  I would like to assure the public that following our warrant, UK Power Networks has made the electrics safe.

Our priority is to disrupt organised crime groups and prevent drugs being sold in Havering and we are committed to protecting our communities from the crime and anti- social behaviour that is often linked to drugs supply.

If anyone has information relating to drug supply, I would encourage them to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and we will take action against them.”

Great work!
