Kaleidoscope to host Romford’s first LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
Romford will host its first ever LGBTQ+ film festival . The East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival will be on November 4th at Premiere Cinemas. The festival will have a mixture of independent and blockbuster films and other entertainment including special guests.
Supported by The Mayor of London’s community fund, the film festival aims to increase positive and accurate representation of LGBTQ+ people on screen. It will also be a place to celebrate the local LGBTQ+ community.
Tickets will be £15 with access to the films all day, as well as talks and access to the private cocktail bar area; which will serve thematic cocktails. Kaleidoscope and festival merchandise will also be available for purchase. Funds raised will go towards continuing social or cultural projects for LGBTQIA+ youth in Havering to benefit from.
Carrie Kendall, community leader of Kaleidoscope said: “Film is very important in terms of representation, it is often an insight into how the LGBTQIA+ community is viewed by society. Independent cinema has always been at the forefront of social change. Positive and accurate film can be used as a educational tool to encourage empathy among everyone”

This festival hopes to inspire our youth community and raise important funds for the charitable organisation.
If you are a filmmaker, there is also a chance for you to be involved in the festival with submissions open until 20 September 2023. You can submit via FilmFreeway for a chance to see your film played alongside blockbuster features on a cinema screen. You will also be able to compete for one of five awards too: Best Feature Film. Best Short Film. Best Documentary. Best Performance. Best Music Video.
