BREAKING:ATM stolen from Upminster shop in smash and grab.


The ATM inside the Waitrose store in Upminster was stolen in the early hours of this morning after police found the shop doors forced open and part of the ATM gone.

The theft took place around 3am after reports of the store alarm being activated.

The vehicle involved was stopped by Essex Police officers on the A127, however the suspects managed to jump into another car travelling alongside it.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called at 03:07hrs on Thursday, 25 May to a report of an alarm activation at a shop on St Mary’s Lane, Upminster.

“Officers attended and found the doors of the premises had been forced open. Part of an ATM machine at the front of the property had been stolen.

“A crime scene was put in place.

“The vehicle was stopped by officers from Essex Police on the A127. The suspects managed to get into another car travelling alongside it and made off from the scene. The stolen ATM was located inside the van.”
