Romford BID Announces New Date for Free Diwali Celebration.

Romford BID, in partnership with HASWA, Havering Changing and Clarion Futures, is pleased to confirm that its free Diwali Celebration in Romford Market has been rescheduled to Sunday 1st November 2026, following the dreadful weather conditions on the original date of Sunday 25th October.

The event will now take place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 1st November in Romford Market, at the St Edward’s Church end, bringing residents and visitors together for a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of Diwali – the Festival of Light. With a fantastic programme of entertainment, cultural experiences, workshops and activities, the event promises a wonderful day of colour, music and community spirit.

Visitors can look forward to Bollywood and Bhangra performances, live music and dancing, alongside a variety of Diwali-themed workshops. Families can enjoy henna and face painting, while caricature artists will offer a fun and creative experience for visitors of all ages.

The entertainment programme will feature performances from Segatastic, Aadya, Harvey, Veena and the Children and Community group, and Tej and the community. There will be plenty to explore, with a delicious selection of food and drink available throughout the event. Visitors can enjoy South Indian and Sri Lankan street food, Pakistani cuisine, Indian street food and popular chaat favourites. There will also be a tempting range of sweet treats, cakes, brownies, coffees, fresh juices, milkshakes and mocktails to enjoy throughout the day.

Market stalls will showcase jewellery, sarees, Asian clothing, bags, shawls, perfumes, locally produced honey, candles and handcrafted gifts. Other activities include children’s art workshops hosted by HASWA, a saree try-on experience and a teacup ride.

Live Well Havering will be on hand to provide health information, advice and blood pressure checks, while The Doctors House will offer flu vaccination services, adding another valuable element to this community-focused event.

Julie Frost, Romford BID Director, said: “We’re pleased to be able to welcome everyone to Romford for our Diwali celebrations on the new date of Sunday 1st November, following the disruptive weather we experienced on Sunday 25th October. We know how much these celebrations mean to our community, and we’re looking forward to bringing everyone together for a wonderful day of colour, culture and entertainment. Whether you celebrate Diwali every year or simply want to discover more about this much-loved festival, everyone is welcome to come along and experience the warmth, traditions and community spirit that make the occasion so special.”
