East Area Response Officers embark in an amazing foot chase as they recover stolen Rolls worth £350k.
During the early hours of the morning on 6th June, East Area Emergency Response Police Officers were driving on Lodge Avenue, Dagenham towards the A13 when they noticed a high value Rolls Royce SUV with its bonnet up on the back of a yellow pick up truck driving towards them from the A13.
Officers were concerned this was suspicious and attempted to stop the truck, but as they did the truck made a sharp right turn onto a side road.
The driver of the truck proceeded to jump out of the moving vehicle leaving it to collide into a garden fence and made off on foot.
Officers then gave chase along the road. As they were chasing the suspect on foot, a grey Mercedes sped in front of them attempting to allow the suspect to get into the car to get away, but he couldn’t get in with the officer running behind him.
There were multiple attempts to get into the car, but they repeatedly failed. The foot chase continued into another road and again the Mercedes continued to pull alongside the suspect to allow a quicker get away. The Police Officer drew his baton and smashed the rear of the Mercedes window to warn them off. The Mercedes sped off and eventually a male in his mid 20s was detained and arrested for Handling Stolen Goods.
Further enquiries were made and the victim was identified. The car that was on the back of the truck was a Rolls Royce Cullinan, with a value of approximately £350,000.00. The car had been stolen without keys from a driveway in Newham that morning in the early hours.
The suspect has been bailed and the investigation continues.
Great work by our officers once again!
