‘We were told Hornchurch police station was saved, that’s another lie.’

Havering’s Leader of the Opposition Councillor Ray Morgon has slammed the council stating ‘Hornchurch police station has NOT been saved. That was just another lie.’

Resident Association councillor Ray Morgon spoke to the Havering Daily yesterday after Wednesday’s full council meeting where councillors tackled the issue of Hornchurch police station.

“We had photos and news stories telling us how great it was that Hornchurch police station had been saved from closure by the council back in 2019. Tory councillors stood outside of the police station, all smiles and clearly claiming the saving of the building.

“But once again the Havering residents have been told another lie. When myself and other RA councillors have looked into this, we have discovered that the building has not been saved or bought, the council were given the option to buy the building from the Mayor’s office and that’s how it stands.

“Once again this is another lie and I’m sad to say that our council leader is known for not telling the truth. When Roger Ramsey and Michael White were leaders of the council, we had respect for them. This council leader is widely disliked by the public.

“There have been many difficult situations, from gerrymandering that made mainstream news to now this latest scandal of a promise to save a much-needed police station, that actually hasn’t been saved at all.”

Hornchurch Police Station article uses the word ‘purchased’ rather than saved.
