Barking man charged with possession of a firearm.


A man will appear in court today, Monday, 8 November charged in connection with the investigation into the murder of Mohamed Muhiyidin.

Mohammed Ilyas Shakeel, 28, of Cape Close, Barking was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm with intent to commit violence and assisting an offender.

He will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.

Mohamed was found on Sipson Lane, Harlington at 06:16hrs on Sunday, 31 October after a passing motorist noticed a person at the side of the road.

Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 07:00hrs.

A post mortem has confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Overnight on Thursday, 4 November a 38-year-old man [B] was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was originally taken to hospital for an injury to his arm. He has since been discharged and he remains in police custody at this time.

A 44-year-old man [A] was charged with assisting an offender and appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 4 November. He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on Thursday, 2 December.
