VIDEO: Hornchurch local hero to run half marathon to raise money for St Francis Hospice.

Local trade unionist Nick West from Hornchurch is often helping in the community. Now, the popular local man is getting his running shoes on to help raise money for St Francis Hospice by running his first half marathon.

He told the Havering Daily:

“St Francis Hospice is a charity I grew up knowing about thanks to my nan volunteering her time there for most of my childhood. Everyone in my area knows about the incredible work they do and, in unfortunate circumstances, in the final stages of my granddad’s battle with cancer my family witnessed first hand the compassion and quality of care St Francis Hospice were able to provide to my granddad in his own home during his final days.

“Since then I’ve always wanted to give back. I’ve donated my time volunteering in their shops but I want to do something a bit different and as a keen runner, the Vitality Big Half seems like the perfect way to raise money for this fantastic cause. This will be a big challenge as I’ve never run this far and so I’m currently training hard to get me to the level to complete this challenge.”

If you can, please consider donating some money above to St Francis Hospice as it is a truly fantastic cause.

Even if it’s a few pounds, the money really does make a difference and don’t forget to share this. Let’s raise some money together!
