A nursery in Billericay is on the hunt to trace the origins of a bowl they found whose story has intrigued its children.
Pre-school children aged between 3- 5 years old at the Banana Moon Day nursery have been learning about a bowl made from an 80 year old Elm tree at the Botanic Gardens in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Nursery Manager Alex Lawrence bought the bowl from the Scope charity shop in Billericay High Street and found a hand written message underneath it.
Senior Nursery Manager Natasha Ritchie-Loan told the Havering Daily:
“Alex bought the bowl and we found the hand written note underneath and showed it to our children. We are really interested in finding out the story of how the bowl got here, how it made its way from New Zealand to Essex.”
The hand written note says:
“80 year old Elm from Botanic Gardens, Christchurch, New Zealand. 106 JT Pearson.
Staff at the nursery are eager to find out who JT Pearson is and would love to know the story of how this little bowl made its way from Christchurch to Billericay, Essex.
Do you know a JT Pearson? Do you recognise this bowl?
