Appeal For Witnesses: Boy, 14, Taken To Hospital After E-Scooter Collision With Van In Collier Row
A 14-year-old boy remains in hospital after an e-scooter was involved in a collision with a van in Collier Row.
Police were called at 5.46pm on Tuesday 16 June following reports of a road traffic collision in Collier Row, Romford.
The incident involved a van and an e-scooter.
Emergency services attended the scene and the rider of the e-scooter, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police have confirmed that the teenager’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and he remains in hospital.
Following the collision, the road was closed while officers carried out enquiries at the scene.
The road has since been reopened.
The driver of the van, a 55-year-old man, was arrested in connection with driving offences and remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage that may assist the investigation is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police, quoting the details of the collision.

I am glad the boy appears to be Ok, but what kind of parent buys these vehicles for their children? Unless you have access to acres of private land, there is nowhere for them to legally ride them: not on roads, pavements or public spaces such as parks. Every day I see children riding e-scooters and e-bikes on the roads, usually with no helmets, at speeds which could easily lead to head injury or worse in case of an accident. Other road-users and pedestrians are being put at risk too. There is a reason that anyone driving on the roads needs to have completed training and passed a test, and wear a helmet on two wheels, and also be of an age where they can make more mature decisions.
I am sure that at 14, e-scooters are a lot of fun and at that age they feel invincible. Surely it is up to parents to keep their children safe, and there are lots of other fun, but safer and legal gifts they could buy for them.
because people have electric stuff to get around, it’s a common thing now. he wasn’t going at a dangerous speed, he wasn’t being dangerous. the van pulled out and hit into him. not his fault whatsoever.
I’d love the scum bag boy on an electric bike who ran over a six year old in Rise Park and broke his leg, then rode off to be found and jailed!
