Hornchurch charity Tapestry did an amazing job over Christmas, feeding Havering’s elderly who were on their own over the Christmas period. The charity usually has community events at their base in Hornchurch but have been unable to host these due to the Covid restrictions in place yet again.
So the team looked for volunteers to come and help deliver the food to our elderly over the festive period and were inundated with volunteers.
Now the charity would like to thank everyone who came out on Christmas day to deliver hot food to our elderly across the borough.
A spokesperson for Tapestry told the Havering Daily: “Tapestry would like to thank everyone in the community that come forward in offering help to our vulnerable and elderly people in Havering. We had so many offers of help from the public and other professionals that we were blown away with the response we received.
“What a fantastic community Havering is! Due to this we were able to deliver over 600 meals which included over 100 Christmas dinners. 650 Care Calls to lonely and isolated people, this was just fantastic! How the community pulled together and offered their time was truly incredible.
“The support to those people made such a difference, some of which this is a very isolated and lonely time for them.”
