Tapestry in Hornchurch provides vital support for the elderly in our borough. We all know this year has been particularly challenging, yet despite these challenges volunteers have been providing a vital lifeline for many elderly in our borough who live alone.
This Christmas, the charity will be providing meals for those on their own who don’t get the opportunity to see anyone on Christmas day.
Tapestry Manager Zoey told the Havering Daily: “Sadly due to the pandemic our day centres have been closed which means many elderly were not getting the hot food service we normally offer.
“Over Christmas a lot of people will be at home with no family and perhaps no hot meals. We are looking to find any elderly residents who may need a hot meal over Christmas. We are providing a hot, two course meal for £5 for those who can afford it and free of charge for those who can’t.”
This amazing charity also provides a care call system that helps all the elderly in the borough. It also provides a befriending system where they check up on anyone who may be lonely and on their own and provide them support. Many online classes are also available for people to join such as arts and crafts classes.
If you know of anyone who may need a hot meal this Christmas and a friendly face, please email Zoey at email@example.com.
