As part of the Havering Daily’s ‘Back our Bobbies’ campaign local councillors have shared their experiences of working with the police.
Today Cranham Councillor Gillian Ford writes: It is fair to say that over the years police resources have diminished resulting in smaller teams and reduced accommodation. Cranham and Upminster are the most recently affected by the loss of the police office in Upminster.
Our police teams now have to travel from Hornchurch to reach us, either by bike or bus. But despite the challenges they face they have supported the communities they cover.
Sitting on the Cranham Police Ward Panel, I have witnessed first-hand the dedication and support they provide to our area. They contact me directly if they are aware of any issues that the council should deal with and vice versa, I contact them if I am aware of a resident needing police support.
Although, they cannot always be seen, the local safer neighbourhood teams are only too willing to help when needed.
