Havering’s finest junior chef nine-year-old Joshua Puncheon from Harold Wood, today starts his first recipe of the day for all of you to try at home.
Easy Twisted Breadsticks
-200ml lukewarm water
-350gr Bread Flour, plus some for dusting1 1/2 tsp dried instant yeast
–1/4 tsp sugar
–1/4 tsp salt
50ml Olive Oil
fennel seeds (optional)
In a bowl, put the lukewarm water, add the yeast and mix to melt.
One by one,add all the Ingredients and mix it well.
On a floured surface,or in a mixer, work the dough until elastic.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and leave it in a warm place until doubled in size.
Joshua prefers the oven, with only the light on.
Once the dough has doubled in size, tilt it on a floured surface and slice it.
Gently dangle the pieces one by one, twisting them.
Place them on a baking tray and bake @180C for 20/25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Leave them to cool completely,2/3 hours, before you can enjoy them as you like!
