Community Spirit Shines At the Mardyke Community Centre Summer Festival.

The sun was shining and so were the smiles as residents from across Beam Park came together on Saturday for a fantastic Summer Festival at the Mardyke Community Centre.

The event was organised by two true local heroes, Lesley and John, whose dedication and commitment to the community helped create a wonderful day for families of all ages.

Packed with entertainment, community stalls, activities and delicious food, the festival showcased exactly what makes the Mardyke Community Centre such a special place at the heart of the community.

Families enjoyed a wide range of attractions throughout the day, with children taking full advantage of the activities on offer while residents came together to enjoy the warm weather and friendly atmosphere.

Food proved to be a major attraction, with visitors enjoying a variety of refreshments, including vegan food and the ever-popular pizzas from The Fat Pizza.

Leading the team was the incredible Ripu, a much-loved Havering community champion whose energy, kindness and support for local events have made her something of a local legend.

Those attending were full of praise for the hard work put in by the volunteers who made the day possible.

Events such as the Mardyke Summer Festival do not happen by accident. They are organised by people who genuinely care about their community and are prepared to give up countless hours of their own time to bring people together.

At the heart of it all were Lesley and John.

Whether supporting local residents, helping community groups or organising events that bring people together, the pair are known across the area for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Their work often goes unseen, but the impact they have on the lives of local people is enormous.

Saturday’s festival was yet another example of the difference they make.
