HRA Administration Secured Funding For Mardyke Open Space.
Work on the long-awaited improvements to the Mardyke Open Space, off of Frederick Road, will start later this month.

Local residents first contacted the Havering Residents Association more than two years ago after becoming increasingly concerned about the condition of the open space, including damaged surfaces and tired and broken equipment.
HRA Representatives took residents concerns to the council and continued to push for something to be done.
In August 2025, former HRA cabinet members Graham Williamson and Barry Mugglestone visited the site to see the problems for themselves and to hear residents’ concerns.
The HRA administration subsequently approved £90,000 to regenerate the open space.
The Havering Daily reported on the investment in February this year, although the start date was unknown at that stage.
It has been a long wait for residents, but it is good news that the investment is now turning into actual work on the ground.
Credit needs to be given to the residents for their persistence and to the HRA for making sure the necessary changes are delivered.
