RAINHAM GOES GLOBAL! Free Family Festival Promises a Fabulous Day of Culture, Music and Fun.
Rainham Hall Community Gardens is set to become a vibrant celebration of cultures from around the world this Sunday, 6 September, as the Global Village returns for its second year — and this time it is bigger, brighter and completely free.
Families are being invited to head to Rainham Hall for a fantastic day celebrating art, community and culture, with a packed programme of entertainment and activities for all ages.
Visitors can enjoy outdoor performances from the spectacular Circus Raj from Rajasthan and the Heritage Brass Band from India.
There will also be an energising Bollywood Dance workshop, while Sierra Leonean storyteller Usifu Jalloh will lead festivities throughout the day.
And there will be plenty for local communities to get involved with.
Community organisations will be joining the event with creative craft stalls, while the Village Voices Oral History Project will be collecting micro-stories from local people.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to try vegetables from the Global Garden.
For children and families, there will be Global Games from around the world, alongside story tents, den building, giant hopscotch and plenty more activities to keep youngsters entertained.
And there is even more to discover.
Rainham Hall itself will be offering free entry on the day, giving visitors the chance to explore the historic building as part of their visit.
Families can bring along a picnic or enjoy refreshments at the beautiful Stables Café, which will be serving drinks, cakes and ice cream.
Best of all, there is no need to book.
Just turn up and enjoy the day.
The Global Village event is presented in association with the Essex Diversity Project.
The celebrations do not stop there.
On Saturday, 12 September 2026, Rainham Hall will host a Day for Dogs: Pooch Party, celebrating all things pawsome and dog-related.
The event is free, and visitors are encouraged to bring along their canine companions.
Then on Saturday, 19 September, Rainham Hall will take part in Heritage Open Day, offering free visits to the Hall as part of the 2026 Heritage Open Days.
Inside the Hall, children and families can also explore the Layers of History exhibition.
Young visitors can take part in the Rainham Hall Tag Trail, following 12 wooden tags around the exhibition and completing interactive challenges along the way.
The Tag Trail is free with entry to the Hall.
There is also a special offer for people living, studying or working in the RM13 postcode area.
Entry to Rainham Hall and its exhibitions is free for National Trust members and for locally based visitors who live, study or work in RM13. Visitors should bring something showing their postcode.
The three-acre Community Gardens are free for everyone to enjoy, with an orchard, winding woodland walks and open lawns providing plenty of space for picnics, play and exploring.
So whether you want to enjoy music, discover different cultures, let the children run wild, explore Rainham’s history or simply enjoy a beautiful community garden, Global Village promises something for everyone.
