Sinkhole in Romford Prompts Swift Council Action As Investigation Begins.
Emergency teams were deployed yesterday after reports of a sinkhole appearing in South Street, Romford, prompting an immediate response from Havering Council.

Following reports of the hole on Wednesday 8 July, Havering Council’s emergency response officers, working alongside Marlborough Highways, attended the scene immediately to investigate and ensure the area was made safe.
The Council has confirmed that further investigations are now underway to establish the cause of the ground collapse and assess the repairs required.
Officers are continuing to work closely with Transport for London (TfL) and London Buses to minimise disruption in the area. However, while repair plans are being finalised, some bus services will remain on diversion and passengers may experience longer journey times.
Havering’s Leader of the Council, Councillor Keith Prince, acted swiftly after being informed of the incident, ensuring engineers and the relevant highways teams were sent to the scene without delay to assess the situation and begin making the area safe.
The Council has thanked residents for their patience and says it will continue to provide updates as investigations progress and repair works are scheduled.
