Tory Local Election Candidate says ‘Thank you for voting Conservative’

Adam Baker, one of three Conservative Party Candidates in Squirrels Heath and agent for the Havering Conservatives today shares his thanks to all those who voted Conservative in the local election and writes:

“Thank you to everyone who stuck by the Conservatives and voted for us. Congratulations to our opponents and well done to everyone who stood in this election across Havering. With turnout at unusual highs for local elections, democracy has won.

It’s been a long campaign for us, and an even longer 48 hours with polling day and the count. Thank you to the volunteers and hardworking staff at the London Borough Council who organised and ran the election. The result in Havering is interesting.

Truth be told I am yet to fully go through our records and see how many of the new Reform Party Councillors were either activists, supporters, members or councillors for the Conservative Party. But I think it’s 18 out of 39.

I say to all councillors good luck.

We all know Havering is in a difficult position. We don’t need headlines or slogans, we need real action. Whether the council are able to deliver the promises they have made is another question. Only time will tell.

Me personally – I started this election as an unelected resident. I will carry on as an unelected resident. And I will still do my best to help fix the problems for my neighbours across the community. Although perhaps with a few more grey hairs!I am only sorry that my best wasn’t good enough this time.

Since the last election, I have done a lot – regular pothole patrols, cleared up flytipping, even standing up against cuts to public toilets to name a few things. But I will need to do more.

I will continue to investigate council finances, building on the work I have already done. Reform have made some bold promises, let’s see if they can deliver on them.

And I will continue to back Julia Lopez MP and our hardworking team across Havering as we rebuild, review and renew.

The Conservatives will be back.
