Police investigate Hornchurch assault after woman found unconscious in street.

A man has been arrested after a young woman was found unconscious in Hornchurch during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to Station Lane at around 02:39 on Sunday 10 May following reports of an assault.

Officers attended and located the victim, a 21 year old woman, unconscious in nearby Avenue Road. She was taken to hospital by police, where her injuries were later confirmed as neither life threatening nor life changing.

A 33 year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken into custody. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

A Met spokesperson said: “On Sunday, 10 May at 02:39hrs police were called to reports of an assault on Station Lane, Hornchurch.

“Officers attended and located the victim, a 21-year-old woman, on a nearby street, the Avenue. She was unconscious and taken to hospital by police. Her injuries have since been confirmed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

“A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and taken to custody. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

“Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances. Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 954/9May.”

Police enquiries remain ongoing.
