A roofer from Cranham is preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge, running one hundred miles in a single day to raise money for charity and inspire others to believe in themselves. Kane, who has been building up his endurance by running between sixty and eighty miles a week, will set off on his epic mission on April 25 at Upminster Hall playing fields.

Kane told the Havering Daily, “I really would like to encourage others to believe in themselves and have confidence in doing new things.”

His journey has been as much personal as it is charitable. Once overweight and struggling with his mental health, Kane admitted, “I was very insecure, suffered with my mental health. I was overweight and used to laugh at those out running and was jealous really of what they were doing. I then decided to make changes and really fell in love with running. It completely changed my life. It made me realise that I needed to push myself and make the most of my life. I never believed in myself and running made me realise that I needed to push myself and believe in myself.”

Since then, Kane has completed six ultra-marathons and raised over two thousand pounds for charity, including Havering Mind. This time, he is supporting Make A Wish, a charity dedicated to helping children.

Kane is inviting residents and local organisations to come out and join him for a lap as he takes on the mammoth one-hundred-mile challenge. Whether you can run, jog, or simply cheer him on, your support will make a difference and help inspire confidence and determination in others.
