Fantastic Easter Egg Appeal Held At The Mercury Shopping Centre in Romford
Shoppers showed their generosity this Easter by donating more than 200 chocolate eggs to support Havering’s elderly community.
The appeal, organised by the Mercury Shopping Centre in Romford alongside Lumiere Cinema and event venue, encouraged visitors to purchase an extra Easter treat for those in need. The collected eggs were distributed to residents at care homes including Emerson Park, Portland Close and Ravenscourt.
Donations were made through a giant “Egg Pod” located inside Lumiere at the centre in Mercury Gardens, where shoppers dropped off gifts over several weeks.

In addition to supporting care home residents, the event also raised over £700 for King George and Queen’s Hospital in Romford and Ilford. Funds were collected through a range of family-friendly activities, including an Easter egg hunt, face painting, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny.
The initiative brought the community together, helping to spread seasonal joy to elderly residents while also supporting local hospital charities.
