Residents living on the Beam Park housing estate in Rainham, have hit out at housing provider L&Q following proposed changes to their parking. Residents complained to the housing association alongside their two local councillors-Trevor McKeever and Matthew Stanton who intervened to support their residents.

‘An unrealistic attitude to how people live their lives has affected this development from the planning stage onwards, and previous decisions to put off the implementation of Beam Park Station have not helped”, Cllr Trevor Mckeever, told the Havering Daily. “So we wrote to L&Q to ask them to postpone the decision to listen to residents’ concerns.

We are now pleased to see that following on from our communications, L&Q, have now stated there was a miscommunication and apologised.

In a statement L&Q have said that there will be no transfer or loss of parking spaces. L&Q and Vistry are also redesignating seven bays currently used for the marketing suite for parking, which residents will be able to use, with additional spaces provided for a car club service to improve the range of travel options for residents

“We would like to thank L&Q for their honesty in acknowledging this miscommunication, we would also like to thank all the residents that took the time to email us and L&Q on this issue” said Cllr Mckeever.

“As well as the continual efforts to bring about the Station, we are always pushing for improvements to public transport” said Cllr Matt Stanton. “We have written to TfL to ask them to provide detail on proposals to route the 365 bus through the development, and have urged them to consider whether to make changes to the 287 and 174 routes too.”
