Romford MP Calls For Support For ‘Completely Overstretched’ Queen’s Hospital.
‘The one problem with our local hospital is that the A&E department is completely overstretched. People are waiting on trollies, sometimes for 24 hours, which is unacceptable
Yesterday, in the House of Commons during Business Questions, Andrew Rosindell M.P., Member of Parliament for Romford, called on the Leader of the House, The Rt Hon. Lucy Powell M.P., to allot time for a parliamentary debate on the urgent need for support for the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department at Queen’s Hospital in Romford.
Mr Rosindell highlighted the significant challenges facing Queen’s Hospital, which serves the boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge.
Sharing his recent experience during a visit to the hospital, Andrew spoke about witnessing firsthand the incredible dedication of the staff working tirelessly around the clock, particularly in the care of stroke patients who come from as far as the Midlands and the South East.
However, he also observed the severe pressures on the A&E department, which he described as “completely overstretched.”
In his remarks, Andrew stated:
“The one problem with our local hospital is that the A&E department is completely overstretched. People are waiting on trollies, sometimes for 24 hours, which is unacceptable. Will the Leader of the House arrange for the Minister responsible for hospitals to visit Queen’s Hospital with me, and will she arrange for a debate in the House in Government time on that vital topic, which really affects my constituents?”
Andrew’s intervention put emphasis on the critical need for increased support and resources for Queen’s Hospital’s A&E department, which is struggling to meet the growing demand for urgent care services.
Andrew concluded by inviting the Minister responsible to visit Queen’s Hospital to see the challenges firsthand and by urging the Leader of the House to prioritise a parliamentary debate on this matter.
