London News: Met police officer stabbed as he tackles man armed with knife.


Officers used a tourniquet to help stem officer’s bleeding as he sustains serious injuries.

A local Met officer has been stabbed while responding to reports of a man armed with a knife in Mandeville Road, Enfield yesterday, Tuesday 16 April.

A 30-year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the officer sustained serious injuries to his shoulder. 

The officer was immediately supported by his colleagues who helped disarm and detain the suspect and seized a knife.

The officers also rushed to administer first aid treatment, including using a tourniquet. The officer was then taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. He is in a stable condition.

The suspect sustained an injury during the arrest and has been discharged from hospital. As is routine Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed.

Local enquiries continue into the circumstances of the incident.
