Special Event Held in Elm Park to Celebrate and Support Women And Girls.
On Saturday 11 March, a special community event was held in Elm Park Assembly Hall to celebrate women and girls. The event was the idea of Rebecca Mazrekku who is the Deputy Chair of the Committee and raised £1,000 for the hall.
Havering Deputy Mayor and Elm Park ward Councillor Stephanie Nunn was present at the event and told the Havering Daily:
“We continually raise funds there for the upkeep and renovation of the hall, but at the same time run events for the community to enjoy. This was another fantastic event held at our local hall.”
Event organiser Rebecca told the Havering Daily: “Lots of people commented on how relaxed the environment was and how there was such a nice community feel. We are so pleased the community come together to enjoy the events we organised and to support the hall.
“Thank you to all who helped with the setting up and the fund raising tables (raffle, tombola, play your cards right, hand massage, henna, clothes swap, name the dog, guess the weight of the cake) and all who attended.”
Quote from Councillor Stephanie Nunn “I was very pleased to help at the event today, it was quieter than our regular table top sales, but it was something new and those who came enjoyed
the variety of information and tables that were on offer. We had safer neighbourhood team police officers, Havering staff from the Community Safety Team, information on inspirational women
both local and national as well as many fund raising stalls and a tea room with excellent home-made cakes. Thank you to all involved.
