Community Comes Together to Plant New Trees
On Saturday, the community of Havering came together to plant an impressive 800 trees in a single day, bringing the total trees planted at this location to 2800. The event was a huge success, thanks to the dedicated volunteers who gave their time and energy to make it happen.
Local residents and councillors joined forces with Trees for Havering to plant the trees in a designated area next to the Elm Park Bowls club, creating a beautiful green space that will benefit the community for generations to come. The event was a wonderful opportunity for people to come together and work towards a common goal, while also enjoying the fresh air and beautiful surroundings.
Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds took part in the tree-planting event, each contributing their unique skills and enthusiasm. Children were especially excited to get involved, eagerly digging holes and carefully placing young saplings in the ground. Meanwhile, adults worked hard to ensure the trees were planted correctly and had the best possible chance of thriving in their new home.
As the day progressed, the sense of community spirit grew stronger. People chatted and laughed as they worked side by side, forming new friendships and connections.
Speaking about the event, Cllr. Graham Williamson said, “It’s so important to come together as a community and do something positive for the environment. It’s great to see so many people from different backgrounds working towards a common goal. I feel like we’ve really made a difference today.”
The success of the tree-planting event is a testament to the power of community action. By working together and taking positive steps towards a greener, more sustainable future, we can create a better world for ourselves and for future generations.
Time is running out to plant as many trees as possible, so Trees for Havering are encouraging all residents to get involved in the last few events. The season ends at the end of March, so it is vital as many people support the campaign as possible.
