VIDEO:Former Mayor begins Everest trek to raise money for First Step charity.
Mawney Ward Councillor Dilip Patel has begun his trek to reach Mount Everest Base Camp 1 in a bid to raise as much money as he can for Havering charity First Step.
The former Mayor is going to climb 17,598ft, in a life long ambition and hopes to raise £1,000 doing so for the local charity.
Today, he has sent us his first video informing us of his progress as he begins this gruelling trek.
Councillor Patel has raised thousands over the years for many charities here in Havering and is a much loved and well respected councillor.
