First bleed kit donated to Romford gym by bereaved family.
Members of the Ricky Hayden Memorial donated a bleed kit to Edge Gym in Romford yesterday in their battle to stop knife crime and help the community.
Sue Hedges and April Hayden Ricky’s mum and sister, who are both anti knife crime campaigners, visited the gym on Danes Road to hand over a Daniel Baird bleed kit that is London Ambulance Service approved and stops any form of catastrophic bleeding such as knife crime wounds or road traffic collisions.
The kit was paid for by Teresa MacKay and donated by the Ricky Hayden Memorial put in place to remember murdered Ricky who was much loved by everyone who knew him.
Sadly knife crime is an epidemic on our streets and bleed kit bags such as these, are vital tools for our society.
Sue told the Havering Daily: “April and I were very pleased to hand over a bleed kit to Edge Gym last night (Tuesday 27 September). Thank you to Teresa who paid for the kit and to everyone who supports us in our mission to deliver as many of these kits on our streets as we possibly can.
“Unfortunately they are vital tools in saving lives in our community. We all know just how prolific knife crime is at the moment, and having a kit like this at your establishment, could save a life.
“Thank you to Billy Douglas and Will Jones from Edge Gym for accepting the kit, we hope as many businesses and education providers come forward to ask for these kits, they are a necessity sadly.”
Well done to everyone involved and to Sue and April for their continuous work in the battle to stop knife crime.
