Platinum jubilee celebrations took place across Havering yesterday (Thursday 2 June) with the sun setting on a beautiful scene at the village green in Havering-atte-Bower where the jubilee beacon was lit by our Mayor Councillor Trevor McKeever.

Hundreds came out to attend the special service and then watch the beacon being lit. Mayor McKeever was joined by his Consort Wendy McKeever, Romford Synagogue Rabbi Lee Sunderland, Deputy Lieutenant Nick Bracken and local councillors.

Romford Drum and Trumpet Corps provided the music alongside a special trumpet player from the Royal British Legion Band and the Dagenham Girl Pipers.

Following a speech by Councillor McKeever and a special trumpet solo, the beacon was then lit and the community joined in the singing of our National Anthem.
