A male from Hornchurch is one of two men imprisoned for supplying Class A drugs.

Two men arrested after a kilogram of cocaine was recovered following a stop and search by Met officers have been jailed.

Michael Hassini, 27 (10.10.1994) of Brentwood, was sentenced to a total of six years and nine months imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 17 December.

Hassini pleaded guilty at the same court on 7 October to the following charges:

-Conspiracy to supply a Class A controlled drug, namely 999 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, for which he received six years and nine months’ imprisonment.

-Possession with intent to supply Class A controlled drugs, namely 304.1 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, for which he received four years four months’ imprisonment.

-Possession of criminal property, namely £38,540 in cash, for which he received one year and four months’ imprisonment.

Hassini will serve the custodial sentences concurrently.

Gary Bear, 23 (24.12.1997) of Hornchurch, Essex, was sentenced to a total of five years and three months’ imprisonment. Bear pleaded guilty at the same court 7 July to:

-Conspiracy to supply a class A controlled drug, namely 999 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, for which he received five years and three months’ imprisonment

-Possession of criminal property, namely £12,200, for which he received 33 weeks imprisonment

Bear will serve the custodial sentences concurrently.

The sentencing comes after officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command and Road Traffic Policing Command performed a stop and search on Bear in Staverton Road on 16 April this year and found him to be in possession of a box that contained a package which held a kilo of cocaine hydrochloride.

Hassini was seen to supply the box to him, and was detained during the same stop. A search of his vehicle resulted in the recovery of around £37,000 in cash.

A subsequent search of his home address recovered a further £1,670 in cash, and 304.1 grams of cocaine hydrochloride. The potential street value of all the drugs seized from Bear and Hassini is an estimated £131,310.

Detective Inspector Dave Williams from the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command said: “The sentences that have been given for these convictions reflect the seriousness of the crimes that have been committed.

“We know that Class A drugs are inextricably linked to the violence we see in London’s streets. Those who supply and possess Class A drugs in order to fund exuberant lifestyles mask the reality of the harm these drugs cause to vulnerable people in the capital.

“People concerned in supply can expect the highest levels of investigation from the Specialist Crime Command. I hope that today’s result proves the Met’s dedication to tackling violence in our streets at the root cause.”
