A Havering single mother of three is living in appalling conditions with damp and mould rampant across her maisonette despite two years of desperate pleas to her landlord to address these issues.
The single mother who cannot be named, is living in privately rented accommodation on Cherry Tree Lane in south Hornchurch and has been contacting the estate agents in the hope that the owner of the property deals with outbreak of mould and damp that has affected most areas in the property.
She told the Havering Daily: “It is excessive, it is pretty much everywhere, it is actually growing on the electrical boxes.
“When I moved in two years ago I redecorated and put new wallpaper up. The wall paper is peeling off everywhere now, it really is awful.
“I had a front door that did not even close properly for ages, it was just a few months ago that they finally managed to come and change the door.”
The single mum has been contacting the estate agents Reliance Estates on the London Road in Leigh on Sea for months and months in the hope that something will be done.
A spokesperson for Reliance Estates told the Havering Daily: “There is nothing we can do, we have done everything in our power to resolve this, it is up to the landlord.”
The single mother has several text messages informing her of work that was supposed to be started but still nothing has materialised.
“This is effecting my children’s health, they have regular coughs and my mental health living in terrible conditions such as these.”
