Chris who lives in Epping has started working at Queen’s Hospital in his bid to help the country’s fight against coronavirus.

The opportunity to re-join the NHS has given Chris a chance, after a decade which included a stint as cabin crew for a popular airline, to return to his first passion of caring for others.  

Chris said: “Ten years ago I was doing my nursing qualification. I only stopped because I had a stroke. When I saw my local Trust were looking for staff to support them during the coronavirus outbreak it felt like the right time to go back to what I love doing – caring for others! I’m glad I can do my bit to help.”

Over the coming weeks and months, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust will continue to recruit as many staff as they can to support the current outbreak.

David Amos, Interim Executive Director of People and Organisational Development at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I am so grateful for all those people who have applied to support our hospitals during this testing time. It’s truly amazing to see everyone coming together for the NHS.”

Following our external recruitment drive for staff to help us during the Covid-19 pandemic we are delighted to have already made a number of job offers. So far, we have offered roles to 53 healthcare assistants, two nurses and 19 doctors.
