Figures released today by the Government show that Havering continues to outclass most other London boroughs offering over 87% of pupils their first choice of primary school place. This compares to a London average of 85
The Council comes within the top ten of the rankings in London, with over 96% of children due to start primary school this September being offered a place at one of their top three preferred schools.
Councillor Robert Benham, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Families, said:
“The brilliant work of our primary schools, and the commitment of our Admissions and School Organisation teams, have made sure more parents in Havering have secured their first choice place for their children.
“Today’s data is great news, but we are not complacent. The Council is investing more than £15 million over the next three years to open new schools and improve and expand existing schools to meet the growing demand for both primary and secondary places in the borough.
“Havering already has an excellent track record as a place for learning, and parents should have confidence in the Council to enable their children to achieve their full potential.”
