Hornchurch is soon to proudly open its doors to its first ever micro pub.
The Hop Inn along North Street near the junction of Billet Lane, will officially open its doors on Saturday 21st of December.
The micro pub is the lifelong dream of its two owners Phil Cooke and Alison Taffs. The couple have both worked in the hospitality industry for over twenty years and have now decided to embark on this new venture.
Alison told the Havering Daily:
“We both have over forty years between us of experience in the hospitality industry. Phil bought wines and I worked in the education side, running consumer tasting events in London.
“We are both local, we live a mile from the shop. I was born and raised in Hornchurch, so this seemed the perfect location for us.“
The Hop Inn will have a different feel from pubs as the aim is to encourage people to come along, have a drink and a chat.
“There will be no music, no wide screens, we want people to come along and chat. We would like it to be a community hub for people to come and meet others and have a friendly chat.
“Many old people don’t always feel comfortable in pubs, so this place will be a cozy pub that makes everyone feel welcome.
“We will be changing our beers on regular basis so there will always be something there for everyone.
“We will be stocking Essex and east London beers, starting with Timothy Taylor Landlord beer. We will also have many ciders, real ciders that are 100% apples not fruit juice.
“We also have a big range of gins on offer and we will be starting up a whiskey club in the new year that will allow people on a monthly basis to come and experience a whiskey tasting session.”
Locals in the area have been eagerly looking forward to the opening of this pub, not long to wait now!
