VIDEO: Volunteers come together to feed those in need each week at the Havering Islamic Centre.
Every Wednesday evening in the heart of Romford an amazing soup kitchen takes place to feed those in need not just from Havering but those outside of the area who also need a hot meal.
The fantastic work achieved here is something that unites the borough bringing together people of all ages, Faiths and genders.
The kitchen has been running for two years and is run by Tracy and Tabby and their team of volunteers that are teenagers from local schools who give up their evenings to come and help feed those in need.
The team of volunteers at the Havering Islamic Cultural centre in Waterloo Road work tirelessly every week to feed anywhere between 30-40 people from 6 o clock onwards in a purpose built shelter.
Yesterday (27/11/19) they were visited by the Deputy Lieutenant Mark Bryant who praised the staff for the amazing work they do each week.
The staff not only feed those in need but also help guide them with any issues they maybe including filling in forms or getting medical help for them.
The food is donated by local cafes in the area who do their part in supporting the local community and those in need.
