Homeless charity campaign for ‘rucksack’ appeal.
The Friends of Essex and London Homeless are a registered charity that dedicate their time helping people who live on the street by providing them with hot meals, drinks, toiletries and clean clothes.
The charity is run by Steven and Cheryl Stuart who now spend their lives, trying to help those less fortunate and in need.
This year they are running a ‘Rucksack Appeal’.
Steven told the Havering Daily:
“This year for our soup kitchen we are looking to handout ruck sacks of any size full of Christmas goodies. We are hoping to hand out 300 plus.
“We are calling on the community to help us as much as they can. Any schools, clubs, adult groups, family businesses and individuals to help us help those less fortunate than ourselves”.
The charity are looking for the following items:
Rucksacks.
Sleeping bags.
Socks, gloves, hats.
Chocolate selection boxes, drink cartons.
Toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes and deodorant.
Steven continued:
“Ideally we would love you to create a whole rucksack filled with the above items, however whatever anyone can afford to give would be brilliant”.
The charity currently runs two soup kitchens. One in Charing Cross on a Wednesday night where they cater for around 250 people and one on a Friday night in Grays.
Friends of Essex and London Homeless are also looking for any tinned food people would like to donate.
If you wish to help this charity continue with the amazing work they do, you can drop off your donations to the Dog Shop, 137 High Street, Hornchurch.
