Chants of Save Our Shops heard across the borough

Protesters outside Upminster library

Protesters stood outside Upminster library this evening shouting ‘Save our shops’, following the increase in parking charges and the removal of the free thirty minutes parking across the borough,

Shopkeepers and local residents from Hornchurch, Upminster and Cranham gathered outside of the library to protest about the increases and to let the leader of Havering Council, Councillor Damian White know that they will not stop fighting until the free thirty minutes is restored.

The increase in parking charges and the removal of the free thirty minutes has been a huge source of discontent across Havering, with regular protests taking place across different venues in the borough.

Shop owners have complained that their foot fall has dropped by forty per cent as a result of the loss of the free thirty minutes.
