‘I PROMISED HIM I WOULD FIGHT’: Rescuer’s desperate £4,000 plea to save neglected dog Yogi.
A dog who was found underweight, sunburnt and without visible water is now facing a fight for his future, as his rescuer desperately tries to raise almost £4,000 for life-changing surgery to help him breathe.

Yogi, a pocket bully, was taken into the care of rescuer Christina in August after she was alerted to his plight during the extreme heat and fires in South Wales.
Christina said a friend had contacted her about the dog living outside in a garden without adequate shelter. She was told that his owner had gone to prison, leaving nobody to care for him, and that attempts had reportedly been made to find someone willing to shoot him.
Despite contacting numerous rescue organisations, Christina said no space became available. Fearing for Yogi’s safety, she decided to take him in herself while continuing to search for specialist help.
When she collected him, Yogi was underweight and sunburnt, with no visible water. But since then, he has made encouraging progress, gaining weight and recovering from many of his skin and paw problems.
Behind his difficult start in life, Christina says, is a loving and affectionate dog who deserves the chance to enjoy a happy future.
However, Yogi now faces a serious health challenge.
He has Grade 3 Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a condition that severely affects his breathing. He also has a snapped canine tooth that requires treatment.
After weeks of searching, Christina finally found a specialist able to help him. The estimated cost of the necessary treatment is just under £4,000, with the procedures planned in three stages.
His breathing surgery must come first, followed by dental assessment and treatment.
Christina has launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise the money needed, but says she is struggling to reach the target and cannot afford the costs alone.
She is now appealing to animal lovers and the public to help give Yogi the treatment he desperately needs before his health and quality of life deteriorate further.
In an emotional plea, Christina said she understood the financial pressures facing rescue organisations and animal welfare charities, but could not bear to stand by while Yogi continued to struggle.
“I promised him I would fight to give him a chance, and I am doing everything I can to keep that promise,” she said.
Christina has also shared photographs showing Yogi when she first collected him alongside more recent pictures, illustrating the progress he has made since coming into her care.
She hopes people will see not only how far he has come, but also how much more he could achieve with the right medical treatment.
For Christina, this is about more than raising money for surgery. It is about giving a vulnerable animal the opportunity to live without the constant struggle to breathe and to enjoy the safe, loving life he deserves.
Anyone who would like to help Christina reach the fundraising target can donate through Yogi’s GoFundMe appeal:
