Tapestry Celebrates 20 Years Of Care As New Havering Support Groups Begin

Tapestry Care UK is marking two decades of care and connection at Paines Brook while expanding the support, social groups and wellbeing activities available to residents across Havering.

Paines Brook Court HuB in Harold Hill will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a community party from 10am on Saturday 26 September.

The event will feature live performances, refreshments, games and a DJ. Tickets cost £15 for members of the public, with different arrangements applying to clients who regularly attend Paines Brook.

Tapestry is also launching a new Men’s Social Group at HOPWA House in Hornchurch on Wednesday 30 September. The weekly group will offer a relaxed place for men to meet, enjoy a cup of tea and take part in activities including boccia, dominoes, cards, snooker, arts and crafts and discussions about current affairs.

New Food and Nutrition sessions begin at Paines Brook Court on Friday 11 September from 11am to 1pm. Health and Lifestyle sessions will start at HOPWA House on Tuesday 8 September, also from 11am to 1pm.

The charity has also moved its Alzheimer’s support group to its Rainham HuB on Tuesdays, widening access to support for residents and their families in that part of the borough.

Tapestry recently completed another series of wellbeing and nutrition workshops in Rainham and at Paines Brook. Sessions covered healthy eating, exercise, recipes and general wellbeing.

One participant, Ejiroghene, encouraged others who may feel nervous about joining, saying: “I would highly recommend it. Come along – you won’t leave the same way you came.”

Tapestry’s day services operate from HuBs in Hornchurch, Rainham and Harold Hill, offering activities and personalised support intended to promote independence, social connection and wellbeing.
