Gallows Corner Warning: Major Weekend Closure Will Stop Traffic in Every Direction.
Drivers across Havering are being warned to plan ahead as Gallows Corner enters the final phase of its major refurbishment, with the junction set for a full weekend closure and no vehicles able to travel through the area in any direction.
Transport for London has confirmed that the final works at Gallows Corner will include an overnight closure of the flyover on Thursday 17 September, followed by a complete closure of the junction from 10pm on Friday 18 September until 5am on Monday 21 September.
The closures are required to allow the final resurfacing, road marking and commissioning works to be completed before the refurbished junction is expected to fully reopen by the end of September.
Scott Haxton, TfL’s Director of Capital Delivery Infrastructure, said: “We have entered the final phase of work at Gallows Corner which includes an overnight closure of the flyover on 17 September, followed by a full weekend closure of the junction from 22:00 on Friday 18 September until 05:00 on Monday 21 September.”
During the weekend closure, motorists will not be able to travel through Gallows Corner in any direction.
Signed diversion routes will be in place, and TfL is urging anyone planning a journey through the area to plan ahead and allow additional time.
The first closure will take place from 10pm on Thursday 17 September until 5am on Friday 18 September. During this overnight closure, the flyover will be completely closed for resurfacing, with traffic diverted.
The roundabout will remain partially open, with access available to the A12 Colchester Road eastbound, Straight Road in both directions and Main Road in both directions.
However, the situation will become significantly more extensive the following evening.
From 10pm on Friday 18 September until 5am on Monday 21 September, both the flyover and roundabout will be fully closed.
This means there will be no vehicle access through Gallows Corner in any direction during the weekend.
There will also be no access to or from the A127 Southend Arterial Road, the A12 Colchester Road towards the A12 Eastern Avenue,
