Reform: Union Flag, St George’s Cross and Havering Borough Flag Return to Town Hall.

News from Reform UK Havering

The Union Flag, the Cross of St George and the Havering Borough Flag are once again flying proudly from the main Town Hall building.

The flags had previously been removed under the former Labour-HRA administration, which argued that they could not be returned to their prominent position on the Town Hall until repairs to the roof had been completed.

However, the roof has not been repaired as of yet, but the flags are flying and at no expense to the tax payer as Reform UK will cover the cost.

Following the change of administration in May, Reform UK made clear that restoring the flags was an important part of its commitment to bringing civic pride back to Havering as set out in the 100 Day Plan.

Cllr. Keith Prince A.M., Leader of Havering Council, said:

“For too long, residents were told that these flags could not be returned until the Town Hall roof had been repaired.

“The roof still has not been repaired, yet the Union Flag, the Cross of St George and the Havering Borough Flag are now flying again.

“Reform UK has privately funded the repairs to the flagpoles because we believe these symbols matter and we were not prepared to accept that nothing could be done.

“These flags represent our country, England and the borough we are proud to serve. They belong on our Town Hall and it is fantastic to see them back where they belong.

“This is another small but important step in restoring civic pride across Havering.”

The return of the flags forms part of the Reform UK administration’s wider commitment to celebrating Havering’s identity, heritage and traditions.

I hope we all understand what *no expense* means. That it means absolutely no use of Council employees in any role whatsoever. And that the entire cost of the flags and the double experience of erecting it was outsourced.
