Breaking: 17-Year-Old Arrested In Connection To Havering Wildfires.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson and theft of a motor vehicle as police investigate a series of wildfires across Havering.
Police have confirmed the teenager has since been released on bail pending further enquiries, as officers continue to work alongside the London Fire Brigade and partner agencies to establish how the fires started.
Chief Inspector Richard Vale of the Havering Neighbourhood Policing team said:
“In relation to the recent wildfires in Havering, we are keeping an open mind regarding how these fires started and continue to work closely with the London Fire Brigade and our partner agencies.
“As part of our enquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson and theft of a motor vehicle. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
“We encourage anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact police on 101 quoting reference 4978/30JUL or report information anonymously through Crimestoppers.
“I would also urge all parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers of starting fires and the potentially devastating consequences for life, property, and the environment.”
