The Rainham Muslim Trust once again organised a spectacular outdoor Eid al-Adha gathering on Wednesday 27 May, at Harris Academy in Rainham.

Muslims from Rainham and the wider Essex community came together to pray and celebrate with their family and friends.

Worshippers were able to benefit from the warm weather and pray on the school green. There was a significant increase in attendance to accommodate the massive scale of the celebrations, which saw numbers skyrocket to over 2,500 people.

A spokesperson for the volunteer group said:”It was a fantastic day for the local Muslims in Rainham. This is our second Eid of the year, coinciding with the Hajj pilgrimage. Whenever we are able to pray outdoors, we try to make it an even more special day for our community. It was great to see kids with smiles on their faces enjoying the ice cream, slush, and sweet cones. Families also enjoyed an array of bouncy castles, diverse food and drink stalls, and a popular punch box game for those who wanted to test their strength.”
