Exclusive: Romford Racist Attack Sparks Outrage After Driver Spat At While Doing His Job.
VIDEO: Watch the appalling moment a woman in her 40s physically, and verbally assaults the driver and then spits at him.
Shocking scenes unfolded in Romford after an Iceland delivery driver was racially abused, assaulted and spat on while simply trying to do his job.
The Havering based driver had parked outside the Romford store on London Road just after 6pm and was unloading his van when he was confronted by a woman in her 40s. Without warning, she began hurling racial slurs at him, shouting offensive and reprehensible abuse.
The situation quickly escalated as the woman pushed and shoved the man before carrying out what many have described as one of the most degrading acts possible, spitting directly at him.
Despite this disgusting behaviour, the driver remained calm and continued to carry out his work, not once engaging with the woman.
Members of the public intervened to support him as the woman continued shouting in the street and carrying on her abusive behaviour.
This was a thoroughly disgusting act of racism. No one should be verbally abused, physically attacked or subjected to something as vile as being spat on simply for doing their job.
Police arrived at the scene at 18:34 on Monday 27 April, officers attended the location following reports of the assault. The woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and remains in police custody.
The actions of the driver, who remained composed throughout, have been praised, while anger grows across the community at the behaviour displayed.
This incident has once again raised serious concerns about the abuse faced by workers in public facing roles and the need for stronger action against those who carry out such appalling behaviour.

People should wait to get the full story before printing stories 🙄 I know a witness and they said she had her back to him and he commented to her about how she was dressed and said something about your kind as in white person. I think he was Muslim. Her friend told him to leave her alone and just do his job and the guy persisted. You can hear at the start her saying don’t talk to an english woman like that. He provoked her and yeh clearly she was drunk. The last half she is talking about the cultural tensions in this country that we are all aware of. It’s not a race issue it’s a cultural one. Everyone know what I’m talking about. We’re all been hearing about civil war here for a minute.
