Saturday saw the first crime prevention event of the year take place at Rainham Tesco on Bridge Road, organised by Rainham Safer Neighbourhood Team in partnership with TVL and Biketrac. The event ran from 1pm to 4pm and attracted a strong turnout from local residents keen to learn more about keeping themselves and their property safe.

PS Amar Sehemby, PCSO Julia Bates and PCSO Brian Simms helped coordinate the day, ensuring visitors had the opportunity to see a wide range of crime prevention products and speak directly with experts. Julia from Biketrac and Luke from TVL were also in attendance, showcasing security products for motorcycles, bikes, vans, cars and homes. They were on hand to explain how the products work and offer practical advice to residents.

Members of the public were able to explore products including Datatag forensic marking kits, Disklok, Hiplok, Selectadna forensic marking kits and Amorguard Tuffbank, along with a variety of other crime prevention solutions supported by local authority advice. Attendees were able to ask questions and learn how to better protect their property, while also receiving Havering discount codes for some of the products on display.

Between 40 and 100 residents attended the event, arriving on bikes, in vans and cars, taking advantage of the opportunity to engage directly with the Safer Neighbourhood Team and local security specialists. The event demonstrated how seriously the local team takes crime prevention and their commitment to working alongside the community to keep the borough safe.

The team were also joined by Dagenham and Rainham MP Margaret Mullane, and Beam Park Ward Councillors Trevor McKeever and Matt Stanton.

Residents are encouraged to join www.metengage.co.uk, a two-way communication platform connecting the local Safer Neighbourhood Team with members of the public. Saturday’s event marks the start of many similar initiatives planned throughout the year, giving the community regular opportunities to learn more about staying safe and taking proactive measures against crime.

The Rainham Safer Neighbourhood Team thanked everyone who attended and encouraged residents to watch out for details of the next event.
